DESIGN
The design practice.
Design at Alterra begins with the ground the project will sit on — soils, water, trees already in place, microclimate across the calendar year — and lets the built response grow from what the site can actually hold. We draw, specify, and detail so that the Build phase executes on a plan the land itself wrote.
The DFW metro sits at the seam of two ecoregions — the Blackland Prairie to the east, the Cross Timbers to the west — across USDA zones 8a and 8b. Those are design inputs, not background. Read the full Place section →
Landscape Design
Drawings, plant specs, grading, and the full picture of the garden before any dirt moves.
Outdoor Living
Pergolas, dining terraces, fireplaces, and the integrated lighting that carries the place into the evening.
Outdoor Kitchens
Cooking and gathering structures sized to the site and the way it is actually used — not pulled from a catalog.
PHILOSOPHY
